Unmarried couple staying at my house
by suavojr ini need your help with this topic.
i’m trying to find an elder’s letter or wt article that frown upon a good standing jw allowing an unmarried couple to stay over their house for the night.. my wife claims this is a conscience matter and i say that’s bs, this leadership does not allow it.
would like to find this info..

Mega Millions Jackpot…
by Biahi inin the us, our mega millions lottery jackpot has reached over 1billion dollars!
what would you do if you won?
i think i’d run public service announcements on television, alerting people of the dangers of the wt cult, among other things.

TV and the Media
by punkofnice ini look at tv and the media as all fiction.. i wonder if the media is now just a tool to cauterise the brain and zombify us?
i'm sure the uk's bbc does.
it seems to be a tool to brainwash people to buy into latest agenda or trend that must be followed.....or you're an outcast like a disfellowshipped one.

Family division
by joao inthe worst part of my experience of getting rid of the shackles of wt is not the shunning.
i can live with that.
if people don't want to talk to me, there are many more who do!

you also have to face the reality that sometimes the born in brain
deadwashed will stay with the only life support system they know--the watchtower...even choosing that over their partner. My first wife was firmly in that category. She divorced me as fast as she could when i provided the scriptural grounds she needed. I'm sure she got great comfort from all the others in the congregation. Isnt that what its all about?
But that was 40+ years ago.

i caught out my JW parents about this 40 years ago. I was living with my lady and invited my parents to dinner--and to meet her.
They said--"you know we cant--because you are not married."
Now--i had already thought up my rebuttal to this...because they socialised openly with my mums sister--and male partner--who had never married and had 4 grown up kids.
i was surprised how quickly they backed down--met my lady--and got on like a house on fire.
We married a few months later--and were together for the next 23 years.

my wife is ( was ) filipino..but she became a British Citizen yesterday !"
She gets confused with he and she--his / hers/ and so on.
The English language can be very confusing if its not your native language.

my doctor once explained it this way--
in times gone by--most marriages didnt last very long. The husband would very likely die young--either worked to death, killed in battle or by disease. The widow was then free to find another marriage mate.
or...the wife might die in childbirth--leaving the widower to find another mate. etc.
Ive been married 4 times--and its nothing to do with a taste for wedding cake.

Kneel before me, for I am an ... Activist!
by Simon ini thought it was just me that had a negative view of people who proclaim themselves to be activists.. but no, it seems i'm not alone!.

Longhairgal--i dont agree with you saying your not an activist. You are a very prolific poster on here--and youre hardly pro watchtower--are you ? How many jw's read your posts when they lurk on here ?
I'm sure your posts--your life experiences --make a lot of readers stop and think. Far more effective than holding up a placard outside an assembly.

when i think back to when i was an active dub--late teens: pioneer; servant; public talks home and away etc---i tried to hide my religion from people i worked with and others who may have asked me. I was embarrassed and ashamed of it.
Now--i'm only too willing to talk about it if the occasion comes up..such as local public facebook groups. Its surprising how often the subject JW comes up in discussion groups.
No need to bad mouth the cult--just present the true facts as against the usual myths and misinformation.
